They have been used to spread around an important message, politic viewpoints, explore new ideas in literature, and expose different styles of art to people around the world. There are many genres, graphic novels can fall into, but a large majority of them will always be fiction because then the authors can expand more into their stories than they can with non-fiction. ââ¬Å"Today, images still have the power to elicit a variety of responses.â⬠(Horowitz, pg. 8). This was something I noticed with graphic novels when they mention the usage of genders in the stories. Fictional graphic novels, no matter what their genre is, have unique ways of interpreting the theme of genders into their stories to get a message to the audience about them. However, I feel that one graphic novel I have discovered online, does one of the best jobs of incorporating an LGBTQA+ theme into its story while combining it with a unique setting, lovely character designs, and helping someone understand themselves. Rock and Riot is an online graphic novel that began in March, 2015 by queer New Zealand animation student, Chesley Furedi. One of the things that made Rock and Riot stand out to me from other online novels was how it took place in the 1950ies with its mixed cast of LGBT+ characters; a time frame where the community was not widely accepted as much as it is today. I think the time setting is important because it shows thatShow MoreRelatedThe Limitations Of Corpus Linguistics967 Words à |à 4 Pagesevaluated objectively and entirely (Tognini Bonelli 2001: 57). Maritime Law for Property Damages - MyAssignmenthelp.com
Question: Discuss about theMaritime Law for Property Damages. Answer: Introduction There are two fundamental rights that have been addressed in relation to the Maritime Law that are faced quite often. These issues are that who will be entitled to sue the cargo when there is damage or loss. And the other issue is in relation to the carrier, who the carrier can sue when loss has been incurred. The problem is seen in every case where there is claim made against the carrier. If the party cannot sue the shipper under the claims made against the carrier it will not be able to even if the cargo does not oblige by its duty and causes the loss or the damages. The other matter is often seen in the case when the carrier has suffered loss because of transportation of goods, if the freight has not been paid or the vessels were seriously injured during the transportation by the cargo of the harmful cargos. Such issues are particularly important in the case when the carrier is not able to recover the loss that has been made cannot be recovered from the shipper with whom the contract has been made for the carriage there is need to make the claims opposing the parties. There are two issues that are often brought up due to the party that wants to sue the cargo or the other party because of whom the cargo is made liable they are mostly the party in the contract of the carriage. The main object of the partys right and the liabilities in the cargo of the goods and services over the sea is often known as the document that has now been used over more than hundred years is the bill of lading. This bill of lading has been main scope by which the third parties such as the buyers or the banks who are usually not a party to the contract of the carriage that has been entered among the shipper and the carrier having the rights and the liabilities in the contract of the carriage. The most vital place of the bill of lading is in relation to the giving title to sue and be sued. Body of Opinion Facts A ship was chartered by Wong Ting Fung Ltd in Hong Kong to Ernest Bart Shipping Pty Ltd in Adelaide to ship 7,000 steel coins to Mr. Yeung in Hong Kong. A contract was made between shipper and the shipping party including the bill of lading. In the port at Adelaide the master was not very familiar with them carriage of steel in such form although Bart Shipping Pty Ltd protested that the steel was normal the master wrote it to be rusted on the bill of lading. The bank that had financed Yeung under credit was instructed to only accept a clear letter in relation to the bill of lading. Thus, the bill of lading was disapproved but after certain negotiations Yeung agreed to accept the steel coins from Bart Shipping Company at a discounted price. But when the ship arrived Yeung was given the bill of lading which had only 6,000 coils due to some serious damage that took place before loading. Issue Bart Shipping Pty Ltd and Yeung have to be advised regarding their rights and liabilities in relation to the rights and the liabilities of the shipper and the carrier along with the laws related to the bill of lading. Bart Shipping Company had chartered their ship from Wong Ting Fung Shipping Ltd to carry 7,000 steel coils to Mr. Yeung in Hong Kong. All the clauses were mentioned in the contract which was agreed by both including the bill of lading. Rule With respect to the English position the two acts play a crucial role, Carriage of Goods by Sea Act 1992 and the earlier on was 1855 Bills of Lading Act along with the reports of the Law Reform Committee and the case laws (Ajaja 2015). The UNCITRAL Draft Convention, in relation to the Draft Convention itself will help in determining the right and liabilities of the shipper and the shipment. The bill of lading is an important document in the international trade. The contract between Bart Shipping and Mr. Yeung can be explained here, in the case of the international sales, the shipper that is the seller mostly makes a contract with the shipper to transport and delivery of the products to a third party (Baatz 2013). The person to whom the goods are sold are the buyers, there are times when the delivery has to made to the banks that have sponsored the buying of goods and the services when the goods are under the bill of lading and are given to the bank as a form of security. It becomes crucial for the third parties that are able to receive the obligations in the contract under the bill of lading as they are often those who bear the damage to the goods at the time of transportation period (Brodie 2014). Under the common law of privity, the third parties are not able to sue the carriers under the contract of carriage. The rule states that the parties to the contract may sue or be sued on it. Although the shipper can sue the shipper is the party to make an agreement with the carriage, the common laws has not allowed them to get back the obvious damages if he has not incurred the loss. This has been considered very unsatisfactory in the state of affairs as the buyers would be often left without any solution in the contract when damage takes place in the cargo (Cai 2016). Although the buyer can sue the carrier by other means. In case of torts, there are other alternative which are very complicated and on the grounds of such claim it becomes difficult to establish it (Croucher 2016). In the case, Dunlop v Lambert the problem was in relation to the common law the solution to the privities problem that was developed. In this case, court had allowed the shipper that had entered into a contract of carriage with the shipper who did not suffer any loss himself to get back the obvious damages (Cooper 2016). The consignee or the endorsee of the bill of lading needs the contractual rights under the bill when the property in the goods has passed to him upon or by the reason of such consignments (Jafari 2015. The link between the transfer of the property rights and the acquisition if the contractual rights however turned out to be a problem in certain cases. Under section 1 of the Bill of Lading Act, for a consignee to gain the rights of the suit and to acquire the contractual rights the property in the goods have to be passed to him either upon or by the reason of such endorsements (Schoenbaum 2015). Application The transferee in not obliged by each terms and conditions of the agreement of the cargo and are just obliged to the rights and the liabilities in relation to the bill of lading. This implies that the first contract that was made between the shipper and the bearer had distinctive terms that were highlighted in the bill of lading, these terms and conditions of the bill of lading will have an upper hand in deciding the extent the rights and the liabilities of the transferee. The outcome of the case Leduc v Ward, there was an agreement between the shipper and the bearer that allowed deviation of Glasgow. However it may look like, there was no such deviation that was allowed in the agreement between the transporter and the endorsee. Since there was no sign of the bill of lading allowing such deviation consequently, the endorsee had a real claim against the transporter. the result of the case, Sewell v Burdick is that it had prevented the bank from being obliged under the agreement of the cargo, it additionally kept the bank from bringing the claim against the transporter under the agreement of the carriage. Under the validity of the caase, the products if the goods and the services were damaged there would be breach of contract causing the bank and its security to diminish and the bank would rather not sue the transporter as the bank had the exceptional property and not the general property. Under section 1 of the bill of lading act. In such kind of cases the bank will be left with no other option but to rely on the remedies of the common law. Under section 1 of the 1855 Act it gives the endorsee the power to be liable in relation to the products in the contract and the bill of lading. Conclusion The rights and the liabilities that have to be advised to Bart Shipping Company and Mr. Yeung are mentioned under the 1992 Carriage of Goods by Sea Act and the common law, it can be seen that the parties that have the right to sue the cargo under and the party that the carrier is entitled to sue. The main object of the law in this area is to balance the commercial interest of the three parties that are mentioned in every bill of lading contract that are the carrier, the shipper and the consignee or the indorse. If the law does not properly protect the interest of the various parties or does not impose the other right and the duties on the specific parties, in that case the law usually becomes ineffective and the merchants will find another way instead of the bills of lading in order to meet their requirements. The law will be ineffective if the parties and their rights and liabilities cannot be easily distinguished. Thousands of bills of lading are issued everyday and such bills will be considered useless if they have to be studied with the help of a lawyer or have to go to the court in order to know their rights and liabilities. Under the English law which highlights the 1992 Carriage of Goods by Sea Act as well as the common law have together provided an effective framework within which the carrier, the shipper and the transferee can function. The intention behind the UNCITRAL Draft Convention is considered noble but there is need for uniform laws for the transfer of the rights and the liabilities under the bill of lading, the Draft Convention is presently not very effective and has not proved itself better than the existing English law. BMW showroom Essays
BMW showroom Essays BMW showroom Essay BMW showroom Essay As Co-op sells many different products from groceries to toiletries it could be a reason to why they are a co-operative company. As Co-op main objective is to help communities from selling products at relatively low price compared to other retail outlets in other nearby areas like the city-centre. Marketing strategy mainly done through feedback from customers on many different questions. It may be how well their shop is set out, product prices, customer services and also any ides for future developments. They may also gain feedback from their own staff to see if the managers have any good ideas or if they have any complaints on the way the shop is run. Again this is a key activity, as even any business would rely on sales and good marketing strategy to raise profits. This is a very important and key element for business success and to escape bankruptcy. CUSTOMER SERVICES The activities of the co-operative group range from food to finance and provide buying, marketing, distribution and services to other co-operative societies. At all Co-op stores they have a section for customer service point to help prevent angry customers or return any UN-wanted goods. They also have other ways to increase their revenue by offering home insurance, guarantee on much merchandise and the Internet banking system. FINANCE This may include wages of employees, waste, profit and even loses. It is very important for a business to regularly check all their financial information to see how well they are performing and to see if they financially stable. The Co-op waste will be controlled to how, much they lose in the business. The profit and loss is looked at on a daily basis outlook-involving supervisor to see how well the department is doing and to think of new ideas to increase profits. There could be an incident which a wine department is not to subsidised productivity levels because of too much staff so the supervisor would look into that try sort out the problem even if it means to make workers redundant. TRANSPORT Distribution and home delivery are too of the most common activities involved with Co-op. The distribution of the big articulate lorries that have the big Co-op log, home delivery that supermarkets have all become involved in and personal banking. These activities will help bring more customers to the shop on a weekly basis as they offer more than the usual service. So the customers might now decide to come more frequently because they may be involved in personal banking. So variety of services offered will yet again optimise profits. AGRICULTURE This is very important activity for the Co-operative because activities for any supermarket include selling products such as fruit and vegetables. So Co-op relies on their members that are the farmers. As shops try to offer more variety to customers it would not be a good image if the shop had limited types of vegetables. There many different laws and acts that play a part in business activity as consumer protection has great powers over traders. FISHING- there involvement here will be because it relies on other sources for fresh fish.à FORESTRY- they may rely on farmers to give them plants and flowersà MINING COAL- this may be coal that is sold in supermarkets. This type of activity is indirectly involved with Co-op, as their activity is to sell products and services. But the products they sell do come from such agriculture firms so its important and the Co-op would rely on the business to bring certain needed products. So all three of these play a part in the Co-op activity. As the Co-op is quite small and if customers visit the store and see half the shelves empty it wont help customers from shopping there again. As variety would give the buyer more choice it would be important activity to include agricultur. MANUFACTURING This includes the equipment they use for products in store. As they will need shelf stack material, cleaning equipment. As the store is not very big it usually has everything delivered to store. So much manufacturing will take place out of the store. EMPLOYMENT STAFF MEETINGS As in any retail business its important to have human resources in this day and age. As running a business of this scale and ownership it would be easier to employ workers. Employment inside the shop will be tackled by a personnel manager and take care of this activity. Terms and conditions by law state workers must be trained so it would be the managers job to look into this and give if needed training. This may also be the rights of the employee including your holiday dates, sick pay, over-time. This as any other type of agreement needs to be signed by the employee and even the employer. This agreement has to be signed as contract for ale it would be working pretences. A regular activity for different managers, individuals giving and gaining feed back. In a meeting they would discuss mission statement for each sector and also talk about new and up rising development. It would be the managers job to structure and carry out meetings for each department, managers and employees. COMMUNITY EVENTS CHARITY SPONSORSHIP Participating in this activity would give the company a good name around the area they are in if they sponsor or have raised money for local charities. One of the most common fundraisers taken part annually by the Evington road shop is Children In Need. As they raised much money for the good cause. Participation in activities would unable a monopoly for the company as people would recognise the good deeds the Co-op has done and there is a good chance of the public visiting there stores. So these activities would be common but it wouldnt be tackled on a daily or weekly basis but would be done depending on what cause it is for. ENVIROMENTAL MANAGEMENT As charities and fundraisers are a good way to boost company figures and name environmental issues have the same effects if tackled right. But this is not necessarily true as it may enhance image in short term but it may also increase profits long term so its important to be involved in this as it would have short and long term affects.à In this section I will analyse the key factors to why location managers choose to locate their business in a particular area. I have broken the location facts into different sub-headings, as this would give a better insight to why location is chosen. BMW For BMW Ive chosen to look at a Leicester showroom, as it would help demonstrate and assess the reasons why BMW have situated them in that area.à INFRASTRUCTUREà As from observing the map it shows the showroom is located near busy motorway links reaching from Nottingham to south London. The area situated has much car drivers who will be consistently driving up and down the motorway and may spot the showroom. So the situated area is directly to the customers that it is trying to attract and by visiting the located area personally it is evident that the showroom is very big and can be seen for quite some distance. The location is easy accessible for customers who may want to visit the showroom and also being near the city centre it would not be very hard to find. It also allocated on the main road so passers-by would be able to see the showroom and cars on display. As its the only BMW showroom in Leicester it would not be very hard to find as not only being very big, or near major motorway links it is located near the city centre so there would be easy to find the showroom location. So the infrastructure around the location has played a part on deciding whereabouts would be good to locate the showroom and has tackled many of the major difficulties on easy accessibility and customer range. GEOGRAPHICAL FACTORS As the location is near the city centre it would not be far reach from most communities who may live near the city centre district. It would be in reach of city centre so people may decide to go have a look at the showroom before they head home. The area around the showroom has mostly retail parks attracting more customers into that area. This would also give monopoly to BMW, as other showrooms are not situated near that particular area. So this would not bring much rivalry for BMW minimising cost for frequent advertising and anything else that would help them keep above rivals in that located area. This would keep costs at a minimal because the less need frequent advertising and cut prices to keep above rivals so financially it would help keep the capital high. COST OF SITE The cost of the site would be fairly high as the location is near city centre but would not be as high. This location here is more well suited to attract customers, easy accessible for all customers as this is the only BMW showroom in Leicester. So this may have been a factor of placing the showroom in this area. The actual running cost of the showroom including gas, water electricity will be less expensive than plotting the showroom in the city centre. That would help keep running cost low and help spend money in other areas like refurbishment. If BMW ever decide to extend the showroom the price would differ than in the city centre. LABOUR This would not be a very important factor, as not many people need to be employed so this would not play an important factor for location. But the few workers who may need to come to work would not find it to hard as the area is accessible by frequent buses who run by that route to city centre. So there many means of transport that passes and comes by the location. PREMISIS Planning permission would not be a problem for the BMW showroom as the location is away from big public societies and housing but more importantly from city centre. The location advisor may of thought of the location to their advantage as they would not have much problems to extend in the near future if needed. That is another reason to why businesses always think of the future as well as the present as this would help the companys success rate.

The Internet is having a negative effect on the quality of social life Essay
The Internet is having a negative effect on the quality of social life - Essay Example Culture refers to the arts, habits and customs that characterize a societyââ¬â¢s way of life. Culture dictates a societyââ¬â¢s way of life since it includes the values, behaviors and beliefs that a society considers acceptable. Before the development of the internet, most societies had independent cultures, which safeguarded their morality and ethics. Such encompassed the modes of dressing, religions, dietary and interactions among others. Any of such cultures sought to develop peaceful interaction among members of the society. They thus upheld decency of behavior and set out clear behavioral patterns in every group in the society. In short, most of the cultures developed peaceful societies. With the advent use of the internet, people have intensified interaction as the internet overcomes the physical and geographical barriers. This implies that people readily traded cultural values by abandoning those they consider retrogressive and adopting those, they consider better. (Nayar, 2010). In this respect, the internet has availed numerous sets of cultural features with negative consequences on the contemporary society. Among such features is the use of violence among the youth. The youth constitute the most active population on the internet. They interact on the numerous platforms especially the social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter. Additionally, the internet provides cheaper modes of entertainment through films and video games. Most of such modes of entertainment glorify violence, which often constitute the central theme. The users of the internet adopt most of these qualities thereby opting to violence as the most effective way of solving interpersonal dif ferences. Most people borrow dressing patterns from the internet often copying hose adorned by celebrities and established western designers. The two groups have turned culture into a product, which they manipulate and sell to their esteemed customers. The consumers of such cultural products on the other hand assimilate the products without questioning a feature that has progressively degenerated the societal norms and values of decency and privacy as more people continue to wear revealing clothes which the celebrities and designers claim fashionable. Attire in most societies has thus change and continues to portray sexuality that the celebrities and the designers have established through their increased market researches to sell better. Most clothes that the youth among other internet population wear thus portray sexuality often revealing some of the sexual features of humanity. Some even glorify in nudity. In the glorification of nudity and the conversion of every cultural feature into a commercial product, the internet community has successfully turned sex into commercial product a feature that has increased the infiltration of pornography into most modern day societies. Numerous cultures respected sex and the human nudity terming such as very private and confidential issues. Pornography is not just a social ill but also a criminal offense in most countries. However, producers of such contents prefer the internet since it offers them anonymity thereby perpetuating their

Should young children be shielded from fear-inducing events, like Essay
Should young children be shielded from fear-inducing events, like Halloween, or should they be allowed to have the human emotion - Essay Example However, despite the fact that quite a number of the children enjoy the Halloween images, a large number of the children development experts believe that the holiday psychologically damages most of the children. These experts favour the protection of the children from the intense effects of Halloween. Other experts argue that fear is a natural human emotion, and as such, it is harmful preventing children being afraid. It is wrong to shield children from fear-inducing events like Halloween, and thus, it is important to subject them to human emotions of fear. Such situations act as means of training children to have fear-management skills, and thus are very important. According to Pain and Susan (2), fear is an emotion induced by a perceived threat, which causes people, or animals to draw away from any fear-causing situation immediately they get that feeling. Fear is very important to children and other people due to a number of reasons. As children grow up, we expect them to become bo ld and brave adults. A brave person is one who can tackle any situation whenever it occurs to them. Therefore, a brave person does not run away from a challenging situation, but faces it with their right senses. This is the main reason why children should face both fear-inducing and scary situations such as the Halloween. Halloween, being one of the most controversial festivals in the history of Americans continuously receives positive and negative criticisms. One of the major reasons for its negative criticisms is the kind of images it draws in the minds of the young children. Halloween images of children dressed in scary costumes create anxiety and fear among the young children. This is the main reason why most of the people argue that children should not be part of the event. Further, experts point out that most of the children undergo traumatizing situations if they were to face such situations. On the other hand, their opponents argue that fear is a necessity to the growth and development of a human being. At an early age, the biggest source of fear for young children is Halloween. Therefore, they should take part in the event for experiencing the scary images of Halloween. These images make them brave people in future, making them confident enough to handle any challenging situation. Life is full of fear and anxiety, as it is characterized by incidences of high levels of uncertainty and anarchy. People cannot choose the kind of situations that they pass through in their course of life. Therefore, we have to be always vigilant enough to handle any situation whenever it happens. Situations that are likely to cause fear to adult people include the site of an accident, adventurous situations, very serious decisions that are very costly, new places and meeting new people. Emotions characterizing such situations are overwhelming to the people involved. While it is impossible to avoid such situations, we can prepare for them by having the ability to control our fear. Too much fear could escalate aq problem, especially in the event of the happening of an accident. A very emotional person, with little experience of emotional situations that require braveness can panic and cause an avoidable accident. The fact that such a person has no knowledge of facing such a situation, as well as what they should do in such circumstances lead to panic and loss of critical thinking. As such, they end up worsening a situation that if handles properly, is preventable. One of the reasons why people

Designing a process of Intercultural aspects of conflict resolution Essay Example for Free
Designing a process of Intercultural aspects of conflict resolution Essay In the course to evolve a systematic cultural response to conflict, the first step is to breed familiarity among cultures that adds plurality and multicultural dimension to broaden existing views. In the process of evolving cultural familiarity communication, approaches towards conflict, cultural interpretation of life and identities and roles are identified as essential parameters (Carbaugh, 1990). Out of these, role and range of communication has already been discussed. Now it is time to look at rest of three factors. Responses towards a conflict situation are largely culture dependent, guided by the ways each culture has systemized itself towards conflict. Direct and straightforward ways of approaching conflict, generally acceptable in western society, may seem threatening and offensive in eastern cultures accustomed to third party negotiations. Similarly, cultures that follow calm and reasonable response to conflict, may feel intimidated by emotional and passionate response to conflict situation (Carbaugh, 1990). Cultural interpretation of life sets the starting point for people that forms basis of their thinking, values and philosophy, eventually deciding the role they would play in every conflict and their outcome they come across. It is the cultural orientation that makes societies disciplined or diffused, generalized or specific, value oriented or bohemian, and cooperative or isolated (Carbaugh, 1990). Hence cultural conflict resolution ultimately depends on the depth of understanding attained through interaction. References Burrel, N. A, 1990. Theory and Research in Conflict Management. edit M. Preparing Teachers for Certification Essay -- essays papers
Preparing Teachers for Certification Each state has its own specific standards that are constantly under revision. The state of Maryland issues teacher certificates for early child hood, elementary education, special education, and then several areas of secondary education. Many of these areas are the traditional, core subjects but certificates can also be obtained in areas like outdoor education, agriculture, data processing, or as a work based learning coordinator. (Certification Educator Information System, n.d.) To gain certification in each area, a prospective teacher must complete an approved program that leads to that particular certification. The traditional method of certification is through college and university programs and each one has its requirements and guide lines that will lead to such certification. In addition, ââ¬Å"all candidates applying for an initial teacher certificate are required to present qualifying scores on the Praxis I Academic Skills Assessments and the appropriate Praxis II Subject an d Pedagogy Assessment, where required. Out-of-state candidates must meet Maryland's qualifying scores.â⬠(Certification Educator Information System, n.d.) Information for teachers on locations, dates, and fees can be found at the Maryland State Department of Education home page. There are several different certificates that a teacher can receive upon completion of an approved program. For example, a PEC or Professional Eligibility Certificate will be issued after all certification requirements are completed and will be valid for five years to someone not currently employed in the state of Maryland (Certification Educator Information System, n.d.) Other examples of possible certificates are the Standard Professional... ...but the information is a little old since it was published in 1997. Lucas, C. (1997). There is also a portion about recommendations from working teachers. This source is also a little outdated. Mack-Kirschner, A.(2003). The teacher's guide to national board certification: unpacking the standards. New Hampshire: Heinemann. This is an overview of the National Board's certification standards. She's actually explaining to teachers the preparation they must go through to get their certification. I think this is a great source for me. I have two other books with a lot of good information but this one was published in 2003 so the information is up to date.

How Far Does the Poet Want Us to Symphatize with Miss Havisham Essay
How Far Does the Poet Want Us to Sympathize with Miss Havisham? The poet wants us to sympathized Miss Havisham greatly, but not entirely. Her own trappings of her strong need to revenge and her morbid existence that has destroyed her carries a symbolic meaning of self ââ¬â absorption and destruction. This poem introduces us to Miss Harvishamââ¬â¢s character, who has become a type of embittered woman who was disappointed in love and enjoys withdrawing from the world. First of all, this poem is written in a first personââ¬â¢s point of view. She begins by telling the reader the cause of her pain and suffering ââ¬â her ââ¬Å"beloved sweetheart bastardâ⬠which gravitates into a sense of bitterness and vengeance/retribution. In addition to that, the use of oxymoron in the above-said phrase indicates a contradiction of words. The words ââ¬Å"belovedâ⬠and ââ¬Å"sweetheartâ⬠indicates a very admirable personality, but the word ââ¬Å"bastardâ⬠gives us a completely conflicting quality. Besides, she tells us that she not only wished him to be dead, but instead she prayed for his death, evidently by ââ¬Å"Not a day since then I havenââ¬â¢t wished him dead. Prayed for itâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ She prayed so hard that she had ââ¬Å"dark green pebbles for eyes and ropes on the back of my hands she could strangle with.â⬠She uses metaphors here to explain to us that while she prayed, she had her eyes shrunk hard and felt that her hands were strong enough to strangle someone, which fits her murderous personality. It makes us feel piteous for her as seeing that she has suffered a great amount until it has reached insanity, but at the same time it makes us feel really disturbed by her mad identity. The second stanza symbolises her ââ¬Å"self-absorptionâ⬠and ââ¬Å"self-pityâ⬠behaviours. She started off with a strong word: ââ¬Å"Spinsterâ⬠. The use of caesura in beginning of this stanza shows how much she emphasizes and detests this word. Besides, the feeling of abhorrence has been further strengthen by the use of trochee can be seen in the word ââ¬Å"Spinsterâ⬠as the first syllable is stressed. Moving on, Miss Havisham is also aware of her own stink as she does not ever change her clothes. This show how withdraw she is from the world. Moreover, she stays in bed all day and ââ¬Å"cawsâ⬠in denial, which shows how she was on the verge of irrationality and stupidity. In the end of this stanza, she ended with ââ¬Å"who did thisâ⬠. She knows very well that she was a big cause to this problem, but I feel that she also wanted to put the blame on the ex-fiancà © as she only completed her question in the next stanza. This stanza makes us feel really sorry for her seeingà that she cannot get over her past as it keeps haunting her. In the third stanza, she started to dream about her lost lover in a tenderly manner. ââ¬Å"Some nights better, the lost body over meâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ suggests that she misses her lost lover enormously. She fantasizes about herself enjoying her time with her ex-lover, but it did not last long as when she finally regain her conscience, her hatred and ager returns, evidently by ââ¬Å"then down till I suddenly bite awake.â⬠This stanza truly reaches out to me because I can feel that deep inside she tries to recover the wonderful memories they may have had together but she eventually decides to ignore it as she still had that tinge of anger inside her that she cannot let go. The last stanza is mainly talking about how her rage and abhorrence restores. It is somewhat similar to the first stanza, but she seems more furious in the last stanza. Thinking of how she actually ââ¬Å"stabbed a wedding cakeâ⬠shows us that she is plotting a huge revenge on a ââ¬Å"male corpseâ⬠which we all postulate that it is her lover. This stanza makes me feel a little frightened by her as her attitude is rather alarming. Overall, I really do sympathized Miss Havisham deeply, but I do criticise some of her actions. For instance, I do not like the fact that she wants to inflict pain on others just because it is for her own sake. By praying for someone to die and planning a revenge on someone is not the right way to solve a problem. However, I do greatly pity her because of the phase she is going through. It is not easy getting over someone. In conclusion, the poet wants us all to sympathize her greatly, but only to a certain extent. We commiserate her for her peculiarity and her self-indulgence, but her sullenness and vindictiveness make us feel that she is a very vivacious and debauched person.
